Teaching Philosophy & Objectives
Activities over Lectures
Hands on activities boost retention of material and keep students engaged throughout longer classes, especially when delivering content online.
Know Your Students
Make the classroom a safe space. Talk to students for fun, and adapt lessons based on their interests. Offer alternate work when assignments could be triggering.
Make It Accessible
Assume your students don't want to be in class. Use humor, pop culture, and anecdotes keep their attention. Treat them like equals, and you'll earn their respect easily.
Electrics, then Design
Students need to know their tools and how to implement them before they learn about the art. This allows you to contextualize the design in terms of its practicality.
