SENSORY-INCLUSIVE LIGHTING

Surprisingly, there has been limited academic research on sensory-inclusive practices in theatrical and stage lighting design despite its growing relevance in the industry. As more theaters begin to offer sensory-friendly performances, it becomes essential to provide evidence-based and accessible resources on the significance and implementation of these designs.

Paige Borak aims to help artists educate themselves on creating sensory-friendly designs and adapting existing designs for sensitive audiences. She strives to address this literature gap by combining her Psychology and Lighting Design backgrounds. By blending meta-analysis with practical case studies, Borak offers creators guidance on making live events more inclusive for Highly Sensitive People (HSP). The only way to make theatre more accessible is to spread the knowledge, and a new combination of meta-analysis and practical case studies can guide creators to make live events accessible for everyone.
